What have I learned about books?

Six months ago I released my first novel, Loot (http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/Loot.html) and, being an unknown author, there was not much fanfare and so my expectations for the sales of my book were, I think, pragmatic. I hoped to sell lots of books but I was also prepared to slog it out promoting and selling copies, getting known to the public and all of the other things that writers must do to establish themselves with an audience of readers. The Artist and the Retrospective Nature of Publicity
